How to set up CamCrewHosting Email with IMAP and Thunderbird.
Although this guide is set up for use with Mozilla Thunderbird, it should work the same with all mail clients for both PC and Mac.
The advantage of IMAP over POP is that you can check your emails (and keep them synchronised) across a number of devices, and also check them from CamCrew’s WebMail.
| If you have not already got an email client for your computer, you can Pick up a copy of the free Thunderbird client from here.
If you are using a mac then you can set up Mail with the same settings. |
|
| On first run after installing Thunderbird it will run a set-up wizard so you can set up your e-mail account.
The type of account you want to set up is an email account. For this example the email address is demo@camcrew.co.uk with the password test. because the IMAP username can not contain the @ symbol the IMAP username will be demo+camcrew.co.uk |
|
| On this screen you should enter your real name and your email address. | |
| The incoming server type is IMAP, and both server names are camcrew.co.uk (camcrewhosting.co.uk will also work). | |
| this is where you enter your email username;
It should be the same as your main email address with the @ replaced with a + Please refer to the document sent to you when your email account was set up. |
|
| The account name is where you can enter a name for your email account. you may enter anything you like here; it allows you to know one account from another. | |
| this is just a quick page yo review the settings you entered are correct. | |
| On first send and receive you will be asked for your email password.
I also recommend clicking the ‘use password manager to remember this password’ box. |
|
| This is a screen shot of your email account set up and working.
